Come across Malaysia-today and read this
If we wait any longer, we'll lose Malaysia.
Friends,I offer sincere and humble apologies if I am pontificating. I'm not sure why there has been so little appetite for mass action. We seem to be waiting for someone else to step up, or for that magical change of government to happen?I think we need to move on, and stop the momentum from sliding. We've failed 60 others for so long, now's our chance to make it up to them. The Malaysia-Today team has come up with an initiative. I think we owe it to Malaysia to up our game beyond letter writing, statements, bla bla bla... Let's show our strength. Let's inspire the masses. Let's lead the way. I don't harbour any illusions about the influence of bloggers, or even of civil society. If political parties throw their weight behind this, we'll have a real chance of getting some movement off the ground, that can culminate in bigger steps like a Hartal or what not. If we wait any longer, we'll lose Malaysia. I know there a lot of politics, a lot of cooks in the kitchen, etc etc. I appeal to you to put whatever we can behind us, and unite behind this initative - if you put this on your blogs, send out sms'es, and use your networks, we'll have a real shot at taking Malaysian civil society to the next level. yang ikhlas,
Nathaniel Tan
